Go Camping, Save Money and Take a Second Holiday!

When booking your holiday you need to find a place to sleep and we all know that camping is the cheapest solution. However, have you ever wondered how much cheaper camping could be compared to a simple Bed & Breakfast? Opting for camping lets you save enough money to make your holiday perfect or to even allow yourself a second holiday.
Camping
Comparing prices between campsites and B&B in Wales, the Isle of Anglesey, Devon and Fife (Scotland), I was able to confirm that camping is always the cheapest solution and it can allow us to save up to £400.00 per week of our holiday. Let’s delve deeper into the results and take a look at some suggestions on how to spend the money you’ll save.

Snowdonia, Wales

Analyzing the price of several campsites and B&B’s in a very nice area of Wales, Snowdonia, it appears that the average cost for two people for six nights is around £96.00 at a campsite and around £440.00 in a B&B. Therefore it is possible to save around £344.00 by simply opting for a campsite; enough money to do something special during your week-long holiday!. For example, you can easily travel to Chester. It takes around an hour and a half and around £15.00 pound to travel there by car. Once there you can enjoy this lovely, historical town and enjoy the delicacies of one Michelin Star Restaurant, The Chester Grosvenor, situated in the homonymous luxury five star hotel. The Restaurant offers delicious dinners for £69/£90 per person.

Isle of Anglesey

In this area the average price for two people per night in a campsite is around £22.00 and £132.00 per six nights. While the price per six nights rise up to £360.00 for accommodation in a B&B. Therefore you can save around £230.00, which will allow you to travel to Dublin for the weekend. You can get there by ferry in more or less three hours; however it is important to book quite far in advance to be sure to find the cheapest solutions and available seats. In Dublin you can enjoy culture and art for free in the number of museums like the National Museum of Archaeology, the National Museum of Decorative Arts & History and the Irish Museum of Modern Art. Moreover, you can enjoy amazing gardens like the Dodder Valley Park in the south of the city or the Garden of Remembrance and vibrant markets like Temple Book and Food Markets, Art & Crafts Markets and Georges Street Arcade Market.

Devon

In this area in the south west of England the average price for six nights camping is around £87.00 while in a B&B it is possible to spend around £402.00. With almost £315.00 of savings you can travel to Guernsey Island. You can find return flights for £120.00 or less (per two people) or you can go by ferry. Once in Guernsey you can enjoy the fabulous coastline and countryside. It could be worth considering staying here for more than only one day to enjoy nature and culture. Beside wonderful landscapes, the island offers many activities like sailing, boat cruises, golf or an excursion day to one of the Bailiwick islands.

Fife, Scotland

Camping in Fife for six nights costs around £96.00 while staying in a B&B can cost an average of £450.00 per two people. Choosing to camp allows you to save an average of £350.00 which is enough money to travel to Edinburgh for a short stay. It takes less than one hour and £10.00 of fuel to travel there by car and you can enjoy one or two days in a city characterized by parks, gardens and riverside walks. Moreover you can visit museums and galleries that host beautiful works. A must-do is a free tour of the Scottish Parliament, which was completed in 2004, and a tour of the Edinburgh Castle. There are also many activities that you will be able to do like golf, cycling, kite surfing, sailing and canoeing.
Edinburgh Castle

In any of the above cases, you can also opt for a second low cost and last minute holiday in another country. In fact, by saving around £300.00-£400.00 you will be able to afford a last minute return flight for two in a warm country where you can enjoy the sun and sea or mountain sceneries. If you are lucky, you can also find an all-inclusive holiday in the resort of your dreams.
