The services and products that are provided for Business Class
Passengers across some of the world’s leading airlines are continually
changing. No longer does Business Class mean that passengers are simply
provided with a bigger cabin seat with extra leg room. Instead, Business Class
is now a battle between airlines to offer passengers the most enviable
amenities including the latest technology, state-of-the-art entertainment
systems and gourmet cuisine.
Virgin
Atlantic is an example of such airline. Sir Richard Branson, the founder of the
Virgin Group aims to change the way that luxury travel is viewed with the
improvements and upgrades that are continuously being made to Virgin’s
products. Virgin Atlantic offers passengers the Upper Class cabin which is offered
at a Business Class rate but offers all the amenities, products and services
attributed to First Class. Guests in the Upper Class cabin are provided with a
private suite to sleep, rest, relax or play in throughout their flight. Each
passenger is given a 10.4 inch television to enjoy in-flight entertainment on,
as well as a large table and guest seat. For guests wishing to sleep so they
arrive at their destination refreshed, there is the ‘Snooze Zone’ a specially
designed area featuring the use of dim lighting to create the perfect ambience
for resting.
Emirates Airlines are being often on the receiving end of praise for
their Business Class products. The epitome of high-end travel is the
Dubai-based airline. Whilst on-board the aircraft, business passengers is
provided with complimentary champagne, seats with built-in massage functions,
gourmet meals and canapés. To top it off, guests can enjoy their meal being
served on tableware made of bone china covered with fine linen. Each passenger
can access up to 1,400 channels of entertainment on a personal television
whilst reaching over to the mini-bar built into their seat to grab themselves a
cold beverage. When it comes to luxury, Emirates have continued to raise the
bar.
Oman Air is another airline which has received plenty of recognition for
their advances in Business Class and the products they offer to their premium
passengers. Back in 2010, Oman Air excelled past their competition to become
the first airline to provide in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity and mobile phone
services to their Business Class passengers. However, this is not the only
reason why Oman Air has been placed as one of the top airlines in Business
Class; their in-flight offerings are equally matched by the Business Class seat
itself. Each seat reaches up to 77.5 inches in length and can be controlled by
in-built electronics that allow passengers to adjust leg rests, backrests and
the depth of the seat. The cabin has a seat layout of 1-2-1 providing each and
every passenger with direct access to the aisle. The luxury does not stop
there; guests are also given the choice of an extensive range of gourmet dishes
to select from a comprehensive list of traditional and modern cuisine.
Last but not
least, is the Royal Silk Class cabin operated by Thai Airways which offers
passengers the chance to travel like a king on their long-haul international
flights. Whilst on-board guests are treated to a restaurant-style dining
experience with dishes served on place settings made of porcelain and a
multi-course menu. All meals are accompanied by passenger’s choice of beverage
which can include liqueurs, premium spirits, vintage ports and specially
selected fine wines. Thai Silk also offers their customers traditional in-flight
entertainment options, like most airlines, however, their unique entertainment
option comes in the form of also being able to practice a foreign language
whilst on-board the aircraft.
There are a
number of other airlines which also compete with those mentioned above to
provide passengers with the highest sense of luxury and comfort they can feasibly
provide. Etihad Airways, Qantas and Singapore Airlines, for example, all also
offers passengers a range of in-flight entertainment, meals, complimentary
beverages and additional amenities that take flying Business Class to the next
level.
